Continuation on editing cd cover
Today I began to put what I have done so far onto the actual layout of the cd cover in order to see how I like it so far. As you can see, compared to my last post, I put down the opacity of the words behind my model, as I wanted to make him stand out more. At the moment I like how it looks but in tomorrow's lesson I will play around with it to see if I can make it any nicer.

Continuation on editing
Today, I began to put a background for the front cover of my cd. I took inspiration from one of my case studies to keep it as text and some background colour. At first, I wanted to keep it as a red background to get across the connotations of danger, as if the artist is daring the viewers to listen to the song. However, I don't really like how the red looks, therefore, I kept it to a neutral grey tone, that is gradient.

My start on editing
As you can see I have started to get rid of the background so that I can place my model onto another background. So far I think that removing the background was successful, however, I will decide if I want to keep it like this once I have added the background to it. I also used the spot healing brush tool in order to smoothen out my models skin in order for him look glowy. I also did this by playing around with the brightness levels and saturation.
Photoshoot pictures
Today we had a photoshoot in the college's studio for our cd digipack and our adverts. We took many different picture, but I have condensed them down to these which will be the pictures I will consider using once I start putting my advert and cd digipack together.

CD Digipack Mock Up: FINAL
After experimenting with different colours and where to place texts, I decided to stick to using the colour blue which is much more vibrant and easier to see. I like how the track names follow around the artists body, making it look exciting, which is something I will stick to doing in my final cd cover. However, I feel like the spine is quite simple, so in my final one, I will try to make it much more exciting. Also, I like where i have placed the parental advisory logo and the disk logo, which is what I will do in my final piece.

CD Digipack Mock Up: PART 2
In today's lesson, I continued to finish my cd mockup. As you can see, I decided on using the colour blue which is much clearer. I also went on to add the conventional logo's in the corners of the front of the cd. In addition to this, I started to do the spine and I plan to finish the whole cd digipack mock up next lesson.

CD Digipack Mock up: PART 1
In today's lesson, I started to make my cd mockup. I've put the two images together and I have began to add in text. I also added in the spine so that it is easier for me to start placing things on the front of the cd. Originally, I wanted the text to be yellow, however, as you can see, yellow kind of washes out into the image and is harder to see, therefore, in the next lesson, I will start to think about changing the colour, and continuing on finishing the mock up.

Team meeting
After receiving the feedback yesterday on our print products pitch, we have decided to continue looking at more ways we could find inspiration, through more different products, and from different genres, since Afro Beats is quite a hard genre to find print products on.
My own presentation for some of my case studies
These are some more case studies that I have looked at individually. However, I have some more case studies of my own on the group presentation in the previous blog post, which are afrobeats.

Print products pitch: Failure to upload
I was meant to upload the print products pitch here on my blog, so that I could analyse the different feedback that we received, however, the hard drive has broken and our footage is on there, resulting in us not being able to retrieve it. However, we will try to receive more feedback from other people based on our presentation which we still have, in order to hep guide us again.

Research and Team Meeting for CD Cover
Today, me and my group came together and researched different cd covers that fit our genre. It was quite difficult finding some, as not many afro beat artist's publish cds, as they mostly sell their music online. Luckily, we found a few that we can get inspiration from. We came to the conclusion that we might not shoot in the photography studio as the white background may wash out the vibrant and exciting theme afro beats represent, therefore, we are currently researching different locations where we can take pictures. We also came to the agreement that we only want the main artist in the picture, which is Jesse, and not the dancers. We may have pictures of the dancers inside of the cd case, however we are not sure about that yet, and its not our main priority at the moment. Here are some examples of the cd covers we found:

Colour correction
Based on the feedback we received from our class mates, we are continuing to try and fix the colours in some scenes that are quite bright. We have tried our best to keep the colour correction natural by only changing the necessary changes, such as the exposure and other things as you can see in the picture.

Dance for me - Music Video (Feedback)
Today we received a bit of feedback on what people liked and what we could improve. Some of the constructive feedback we received includes:
- we were told we could add a title of the song name at the beginning, which is something we will try to do.
- We were also told was to continue trying to work on the colour corrections as there is still some clips that clash
- We were told to get rid of the wipe transition in the middle of the video as it is not consistent with the rest of the video, and it plays no part in making it exciting since it is a bit random.

Team meeting
Today we discussed what we wanted to do next since we are finished the whole video. We came to the agreement that we need to fix the colour in some scenes as some are quite bright and others are really dark, causing them to clash. Also, we each pitched in our different opinions on what we want to do next and this it what we agreed to do.
Julia focused on the dancing and the angles making it suit the beat when cutting and scene order so it is not a big contrast when scene changes.
I focused on the lip syncing and colour correction.
Jesse focused on transitional effects and cuts.
Angel focused on colour correction making it look balanced throughout the music video and establishing shots.

Filming in Olympic Park - Last minute decision (Offical last filming day)
After discussing that we needed to film more content in order to continue editing our music video, we decided to go to Olympic Park today to get more footage. We managed to receive quite a bit of footage that will help us finish the music video. Since it was a cold day today, the weather was quite dull which isn't good for our video, however, as the sung was going down, we managed to receive shots of the sun directly hitting our dancers and artist, which gave off a nice effect.

Team meeting
As we continued editing today, we came to the conclusion that we need more footage as we are starting to run out half way through the song, also, the locations are becoming too repetitive, therefore we need more scenes in different areas. We have agreed on shooting in a different area within Olympic Park again, on the 17th November 2016.

Filming on Leake Street
Today we went to film on Leake Street. Luckily, we all finished college early so we maaged to get there ealry so that we would have enough time to film in the daylight before it got dark (around 4:00). We manged to get lots of different shots in different areas of Leake Street including the tunnel and areas with graffiti walls. Overall, it was a successful shoot and once we start editing we will come to the decision if we will have to edit again.

Filming at Olympic Park
Today we managed to get a lot of footage of the dancers in Olympic Park. We decided to film here after noticing how ineffective the green screen was. We managed to get lots of different shots, from low angles, to high angles, to mid shots, side shots etc. All in all, I feel that today shoot was successful, and we are now planning a day to shoot more in Leake street.

Team meeting
After yesterday, we decided to have a team meeting so that we could discuss where we could go from next, since our whole green screen plan had failed. We came to the conclusion that we would scrap that idea of using the green screen, and start to look at the other locations we have previously thought about. We have decided to film in Olympic park on the 5th of November 2016.

Green Screen Fail
Last time we did the green screen, there were many creases in the curtain, which is why we attempted to film more. However, as you can see in the picture, no matter how much we tried to stretch out the green curtain, it still turned out to be a complete fail, as it is nearly impossible to make the background one flat colour, and to avoid the shadow at the back. So after today, we have come to the conclusion that we are scrapping the green screen and we are going to stick to our video fully being set outside.

Test Run In The College TV Studio
Today we had a test run in the TV Studio to see how the green screen would work as none of us have ever had to edit a green screen before. As you can see in the pictures, it didn't work out like we wanted it to as the curtain had creases in it, which created shadows in the background, resulting in the colour change failing. Next time we will try to stretch the curtains apart in order to avoid this from happening.

Team meeting
As we were discussing our different locations and where we planned to shoot, we attracted one of the assistant helpers, who helped us come to the realisation that some of our locations won't work. This is due to the fact that we decided some scenes would be set in the studio, while others would be outside. We realized that this would be a problem as the studio background and the the other settings outside may not work well together, as there is a high chance of them clashing. We also realized that none of the music videos we studied had shot in both the studio, and outside, which makes it look more professional. He then went on to showing us this music video, which is set in one place, this was when we decided that we had to stick to one place, either outside or inside, not both.

Request email - Permission to film at Olympic Park by Jessie
One of my team members, Jessie, has emailed Olympic Park, asking for permission to film on their premises. We are yet to receive a response back from them.
However, since Leake street (our other location) is a public area, there is no need to request permission in order to film there.
